    Holly has been with EWS since 2016. Before arriving at EWS, Holly taught all levels of World History in public school for 15 years. During that time she was nominated for the National Humanities Teacher of the Year Award and received an Excellence in Team Leadership Award. She also took on a dual role developing academic programming/curriculum and coaching new teachers as a Dean of Instruction at a local charter school. This year, Holly is celebrating teaching 19 years of World History to sophomores and her first year teaching Psychology to our senior class. In her free time Holly loves to travel, lesson plan, go to the movies, and spend time with her husband and 5 cats.

    Steve joined EWS in a part-time capacity in 2006 while serving as Education Director of a suburban Houston synagogue. After 20 years of synagogue work, Steve began to teach at Emery/Weiner full-time in the 2010-11 school year. Steve has previously served as the Eighth Grade Counselor at EWS, and presently teaches Eighth Grade. During his gap year following high school, Steve participated on the Young Judaea Year Course, a 10-month work-study program in Israel. Following that life-changing experience, Steve received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin where he earned a minor in Hebrew Language. Steve then earned a Master’s Degree in Jewish Education from the American Jewish University, in Los Angeles. Steve serves on the Board of Directors of Hillel at the University of Texas at Austin and also serves on the Camp Committee of the URJ Greene Family Camp, where he spends as much time as camp will allow each summer. Additionally, Steve teaches Haftarah as a member of the B’nai Mitzvah tutoring team and eleventh grade Religious School at Congregation Emanu El, and teaches seventh grade Religious School for Congregation Beth Yeshurun. Steve enjoys sports (watching his Longhorns, Astros and Texans), playing guitar, and spending time with family and friends.  He is married to Suzie Finger Daum and is the father of two Emery/Weiner alumni who are both studying at the University of Texas at Austin.

    Kelly joined EWS in 2008. He is one of Houston’s most sought-after musicians and plays a prominent role in the local music scene. Kelly has been a faculty member of the Texas Music Festival at the University of Houston and the High School for Performing & Visual Arts, He is a member of The Houston Jazz Orchestra, co-leads the all-star ensemble, TKOh!, and has performed with many notable artists. Kelly has been a member of the Houston Summer Jazz Workshop faculty since 1996 under the tutelage of such notable educators as Conrad “Prof” Johnson, Bubbha Thomas, Ronald Thornton & Craig Green, and is the author of Jazz Essentials-Nuts & Bolts Instruction For The Jazz & Pop Musician. Alongside guitar/bass specialist Josh Sheiman, Kelly runs EWS’s unique music program. The curriculum uses music theory (“Music Reality”) as its core, and utilizes a multi-instrumental approach to musical education, where every student learns to play piano, guitar, bass & drums. The course is taught through the lenses of contemporary popular music, classic rock, blues, and jazz. The Emery/Weiner School has been awarded the NAMM Foundation SupportMusic Merit award in years 2018, 2019, 2020 & 2021, with the last year being one of only 80 schools in the United States to receive this honor.

    Julianne joined EWS in 2024. With over eight years of experience in Human Resources and Office Management within local private schools dedicated to learners with neurological differences, Julianne brings a wealth of knowledge and a unique perspective to her professional endeavors. In her free time, Julianne enjoys fostering pets through local rescues and volunteering to fight hunger at The Houston Food Bank.

    Samantha joined EWS in 2014. She has taught every level of high school, including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Aquatic Science and Environmental Science during her decade in education.  Prior to her career in education, Samantha was an environmental consultant specializing in wetland and coastal ecology and coastal land use. At Emery, she brings her love of all things outdoors into her classroom, including her pet frogs, cornbread and beans. In her free time, Samantha enjoys sailing, scuba diving, and traveling with her husband and three children.

    Jenna joined EWS in 2021. An Atlanta native, Jenna has taught at various metro Atlanta theatres including the Alliance Theatre, Georgia Ensemble Theatre, and Suwanee Academy of the Arts. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Acting and a minor in Dance from West Virginia University. After graduation and a summer choreographing at Stagedoor Manor, she moved to New York City where she found an interest in theatre education while starting an after school theatre program for a middle school in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. In 2018, Jenna received her Masters from New York University in Educational Theatre while pursuing other artistic endeavors. She then moved back to Atlanta and became the Director of Theatre and Dance at Saint Francis High School where she began the school's dance team and coached varsity soccer. Jenna has directed and choreographed many shows such as 42nd Street, High School Musical, Seussical, Willy Wonka, Annie, Shrek, Mary Poppins, James and the Giant Peach, Godspell, Once on This Island, We Will Rock You, The Lion King and Matilda. She has also choreographed original productions for the LA Fringe Festival in Los Angeles. In her free time, she likes to play guitar and piano, spend time with her family, travel, and lounge around with her cat Mia.

    Head of School Stuart J. Dow graduated cum laude from Yale University with a B.A. in History (concentration in Jewish History), and from the University of Texas School of Law with a J.D. While at Yale, Mr. Dow received The Cogswell Prize, and later, while at the University of Texas School of Law, he won The Thad Hucheson Moot Court Competition and was named the Best Advocate at the Locke Purnell Honors Mock Trial Competition. Beyond his formal education, Stuart has studied at Hebrew University and the Pardes Institute for Jewish Studies, both in Jerusalem. In addition, he has lived in Israel and worked as a journalist for The Jerusalem Post. Stuart is the founding head of school for The Emery/Weiner School, serving his first stint from 2001 to 2010. After taking two years off, during which time, he consulted and served as President of Razar Media Group, Stuart returned as head of school in 2012.
