At Emery/Weiner, Jewish Life is participatory, student-centered, and infused with joy. During the course of the school year, students in grades sixth through twelfth celebrate Jewish holidays, memorialize significant events and milestones, and develop an individualized relationship with Jewish tradition and practice. In both the Middle and Upper Schools, members of the Jewish Life Committee work with the Director of Jewish Life to plan special programs for Rosh Hashanah, Hanukkah, Yom HaAtzmaut, and others.
Jewish Life is also experiential, and whether planting trees on Tu B’Shvat, performing tashlich on the Bayou, lobbying in Austin or Washington D.C. for Jewish values, or practicing interfaith dialogue at the Catholic-Jewish Youth Summit, students at Emery/Weiner are encouraged to “pray with their feet.”
