Upper School Spanish Teacher
The Emery/Weiner School seeks a dynamic, innovative, and collegial Spanish Teacher to join our collaborative faculty beginning in the Fall of 2025. Responsibilities include teaching five sections of Spanish and serving as an advisor, as well as participation in student life, coaching, and chaperoning duties according to the experience of the candidate and needs of the school.
The ideal applicant is an enthusiastic professional with a broad range of subject knowledge and previous high school teaching experience. A strong candidate will have a desire to teach in a progressive, student-centered independent school that values innovative approaches to instruction and experiential education. An outstanding candidate should be able to demonstrate a track record of innovation, flexibility, collegiality, and student success.
This position requires a professional who:
- Is passionate about teaching Spanish to High School students
- Serves as a content expert and seeks out opportunities to expand his or her knowledge

- Creates and scaffolds rigorous, higher-level thinking tasks that emphasize critical thinking, quantitative reasoning, and problem-solving;
- Embraces classroom technology integration as a tool for learning
- Provides direct instruction to students, individually or in small groups, during class and outside of the classroom
- Implements strategies to help students with content mastery
Responsibilities Include:
- Teach five sections of Spanish
- Assess students’ academic and social development
- Provide consistent communication to students and families
- Serve as advisor to a small cohort of students
- Collaborate on grade-level, department, and interdisciplinary faculty teams
- Contribute to the life of the school outside the classroom
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish Education, or related field
- Comfort with innovative and forward-thinking approaches to instruction
- A strong a commitment to professional growth
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Education, or related field
- Experience teaching in independent schools
- 2-5 years teaching experience
